The volcanic ash began to fall through the cast of the street lights and we knew we were not going hiking the following morning. The Taal volcano had erupted. We first heard of the volcano smoking earlier that day during a visit to the local Palenke then we saw the smoke. Thick clouds began to fill the air and as the sun set, it transformed into a beautiful shade of purple. I was reminded of how real global warming is.
